Assembly measures curl in paper or carton web sample placed in upright clamp over base panel with measuring scale

A process measures the tensile forces in a flat paper or carton web which result in the incidence of curl. In the process a sample (3) is cut from the web and placed in an upright clamp (2). The clamp projects upwards through a socket (6) in a flat panel (4) with a graduated scale (10). The curl X/Y deflection is measured by reference to the scale. Also claimed is a commensurate assembly which measures clamped samples of height preferably 50- 100 mm and width 3 mm - 10 mm.
