PURPOSE: A method for controlling the shift of an automatic transmission is provided to improve drivability and safety by preventing engage shock for drivers by minimizing the change rate of torque in converting a neutral state to 1-speed and to prevent damages of the transmission and increase the value of goods by minimizing torque load pressurized to the transmission. CONSTITUTION: In torque ratio maximally generating and engage shock generating to drivers when a valve body in an automatic transmission supplies hydraulic pressure to a constraining member of each component and the constraining member works with shifting a gear shift lever from a neutral state(N) to a drive 1-speed(D), a shift control method of the automatic transmission is composed of steps of opening a 3-speed solenoid valve of a channel about 0.2 second in shifting the gear shift lever to the neutral state and the drive 1-speed; of crossing solenoid valves of all channels about 0.5 second; and of opening a 1-speed solenoid valve.
