Process comprises preparing glass containers (2) in a molding station of a glass molding machine; removing at least one container from the molding station using a removing mechanism and placing on a surface penetrated by cooling air holes (6); and removing at least one container from the surface. Sensors (12) are assigned to the surface so that a signal is produced when a container is present on the surface. The sensors are connected to an electrical control device and are arranged below an upper surface in contact with the container. Electromagnetic radiation emitted from the container is introduced into the holes in the surface and received by the sensor. An Independent claim is also included for a device for transporting glass containers from a glass molding machine. Preferred Features: The sensors are phototransistors or other light-sensitive sensors, or thermocouples or other temperature sensors.
