PURPOSE: An optical cable having durability is provided to protect the optical cable from external force or moisture by fabricating a lapping portion of the optical cable as a high strong material. CONSTITUTION: An optical cable is formed with a core portion(1), a lapping portion(2) for lapping the core portion(1), and a jacket portion(3) for lapping the lapping portion(2). The lapping portion(2) is formed with a high strong polyester waterproof yarn having a fracture strength ratio of 7.5 or more g/d and a fluorine-based waterproof material of 0.5 to 1.0 weight percent. The high strong polyester waterproof yarn has an excellent waterproof characteristic. The jacket portion(3) is formed with a hardening rubber including a reinforcing fiber. The core portion(1) can be formed by twisting a plurality of optical waveguides around a glass fiber.
