PURPOSE: A method for preparing a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery is provided, to improve the initial charging capacity, the cycling lifetime and the efficiency by adding a doping metal as the liquid state. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of mixing a lithium source material, a metal source material and a doping solution containing a doping metal; and heating the mixture. The doping metal is selected from the group consisting of Mg, Al, Co, K, Na, Ca, Si, Ti, Sn, V, Ge, Ga, B, As, Zr, Ni, Mn, Cr, Sr, Sc, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Ac, Th, Pa, U, Np, Pu, Am, Cm, Bk, Cf, Es, Fm, Md, No, Lr and their mixtures; and the doping solution comprises a volatile solvent or water. The metal source material is selected from the group consisting of a manganese source material, nickel source material, cobalt source material, nickel source material and their mixtures. Preferably the heating is carried out at 400-500 deg.C for 5-20 hours and at 700-900 deg.C for 10-30 hours. |
