Filaments,threads and fibres from polyamides

Polyamides for melt-spinning into filaments are prepared from an aminocarboxylic acid, a lactam or a salt of a diamine and a dicarboxylic acid together with 0.1 to 25% (by weight of the total reaction mixture) of a mixture of equivalent quantities of an acid HOOC-(CH2)z-COOH and a diamine H.XN-R-NH-(CH2)y-SO3M wherein X is H or -(CH2)y-SO3M; R is a C2- 12 alkylene or saturated cyclic hydrocarbon radical; M is H or alkali metal; y is 4 to 6; and z is 4 to 9. The sulphonated diamines may be obtained (as inner ammonium salts) by reacting the appropriate diamine and alkane sulphone.
