A surfactant composition containing: (a) from at least about 0.1 to at most about 50% by weight of an alkyl polyglycoside corresponding to formula (I): <paragraph lvl="0"><in-line-formula>R1O(Z)a (I) </in-line-formula>wherein R1 is a monovalent organic radical having from about 8 to about 16 carbon atoms; Z is a saccharide residue having 5 or 6 carbon atoms; a is a number having a value of from about 1.4 to about 1.6; and (b) from at least about 0.1 to at most about 30% by weight of a co-surfactant selected from the group consisting of a betaine, an amphoacetate, a primary alkyl amine and/or its salt derivative, and mixtures thereof, all weights being based on the total weight of the composition, and wherein the composition is free of anionic surfactants.
