The auxiliary electric drive device is especially for a bicycle. It includes a planetary gearbox with planet carrier (10), sun wheel (30), ring gear (40) and a number of planet wheels (20). The gearbox is fastened coaxially with a pedal axle that is set into rotation by pedals connected to it. The planet wheels are supported in rotatable fashion on the carrier and are in engagement with the ring gear on the outside and the sun gear on the inside. The ring gear is coaxial with a front drive chain wheel (200) of the vehicle and the front drive chain wheel is connected to a rear circuit system by a chain in order to drive a rear wheel of the vehicle. There is a bevel wheel (400) with a collar-shaped attachment (420) with a bearing shell to be found in it for rotatable accommodation of the pedal axle. The collar-shaped attachment is shoved into a central hole of the front drive chain wheel and is coupled to the sun wheel. A clutch (410) working in one direction is provided between the collar-shaped attachment and the bevel wheel. There is an auxiliary motor (500) which is connected to the frame of the vehicle and has an output spindle (520) with a bevel wheel fastened to it. The bevel wheel comes into engagement with the other bevel wheel at almost right angles so that the other bevel wheel is driven and the sun wheel is set into rotation. In this way a torque is passed to the ring gear of the planetary gearbox and thereby the drive chain wheel. There are a number of sensors which are mounted on the planet carrier or in a suitable position to measure the rotational speed and on the rear wheel to measure the rotational speed of the pedals and the rear wheel. There is a controller which receives the measured rotational speeds of the pedals and rear wheel from the sensors in order to control the motor which passes torque to the planetary gearbox and thereby, the front drive chain wheel. |
