Polypeptides formed in a reduced amount specifically in human liver with hepatitis and a novel means of diagnosing hepatitis. Polypeptides represente d by SEQ ID NO:11 or 12 which are formed in a reduced amount specifically in liver with hepatitis are found out. Based on this finding, a novel means of diagnosing hepatitis, which comprises measuring the amount of these polypeptides or mRNAs encoded thereby formed in the liver, is provided.
