PURPOSE: A lithium-sulfur battery is provided, to increase the reaction surface of a positive electrode and to allow the positive electrode active material to participate in the electrochemical reaction continuously and effectively, thereby improve the cycle lifetime property and the capacity property. CONSTITUTION: The lithium-sulfur battery comprises a positive electrode which contains a positive electrode active material, contains the electronic conduction path and the ionic conduction path, has the electronic conductive and ionic conductive properties, and has an active pore whose mean size is 20 micrometers or less and where the active sulfur is filled during the battery reaction; a negative electrode which contains lithium metal, lithium alloy or lithium intercalation compounds as a negative electrode active material; a separator placed between the two electrodes; and a liquid or solid ionic conductive medium. Preferably the positive electrode is prepared by mixing elemental sulfur (S8) powder, a conductive material and a binder to prepare a positive electrode active material slurry; and coating the slurry to a current collector. |
