PURPOSE: To simply manufacture a color filter for a transflective color liquid crystal display device with excellent color reproducibility. CONSTITUTION: A hardening type composition for the color filter for the transflective color liquid crystal display device is a hardening type composition containing a colorant, an alkali soluble resin, a radiation sensitive hardening type compound, a photo-polymerization initiator and a solvent. The residual percentage of its film continuously varies over at least 60 to 70% range within a range of 1 to 1,200 mJ exposure. The photo-polymerization initiator is at least one of compounds selected from a hexaaryl bisimidazole compound, a benzophenone compound, an acetophenone compound, an aclyphosphine compound, a benzoin ether compound, a xanthone compound and a quinone compound.
