LASER DIODE MODULE

PURPOSE: A laser diode module is provided to reduce the size by providing a right angle prism on a surface of a light-receiving portion of a photo diode. CONSTITUTION: A sub-mount(13) is installed on an upper surface of a substrate(11). A laser diode(15) is formed on an upper surface of the sub-mount(13). An optical fiber(16) transmits a light emitted from the laser diode(15) . A photo diode(14) detects another light emitted from the laser diode(15). A right angle prism(20) is installed on an upper portion of the photo diode(14). The laser diode(15) has a front side and a back side(15b). A light signal emitted from the front side is transmitted through the optical fiber(16). A light emitted from the back side(15b) is transmitted to the photo diode(14) to measure a strength of a light signal transmitted to the optical fiber(16). The laser diode(15) is supported by the sub-mount(13) mounted on the substrate(11). The laser diode(15) is electrically connected to the sub-mount(13) and the substrate(11) by a gold wire.
