PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a take-up drum for a strip member, capable of taking up a long strip material without any increase in take-up diameter, not requiring much trouble and time for taking up the strip, and capable of easily taking up and unwinding the strip without a special winder. SOLUTION: This take-up drum 10 has a rectangular section, and is shaped substantially like an octagon by cutting off the four corners 10a of the square. A penetrating hole 11 for passing a take-up shaft is formed in the central area of the drum. The length L1 of cutting off the four corners 10a is about 15% of the length L of one side of the take-up drum 10 and cutting is made at an angle of 45. In the case of the take-up drum 10 having a substantially octagonal section, the circumference of the take-up drum 10 can be made longer about 16% of the circumference of the conventional complete round take-up drum.
