PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portal crane having a portable simple structure, capable of adjusting the height of the crane to a small width, and attaining good work efficiency in the corner of a room or by the wall. SOLUTION: This portal crane is formed by a substantially horizontal traverse rail 1, an elevating pole 2 supporting the vicinities of both ends of the traverse rail, respectively, and struts 3 respectively supporting both side elevating poles at an arbitrary height. A lifting roller 6 is provided on the lower part of the elevating pole, a wire 7 passed through the lifting roller is connected to a lifting means provided on the struts to thereby elevate the elevating pole, and height adjusting holes 9 different in height of boring are provided in the left and right of the opposite side surfaces of the same strut. Thus, the adjusting width can be made smaller by the right and left adjusting holes.
