PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle allowing the common use of an air-conditioning unit regardless of a manual type function or an auto matic type function by having a door drive mechanism for opening and closing doors in an air passage by transmitting driving force through a wire. SOLUTION: This air conditioner for the vehicle provided with the opening/ closing doors 13, 17, 19 for opening/closing the air passage disposed in an air- conditioning case 11, is provided with the door drive mechanisms A1, A2, A3 for opening/closing the doors 13, 17, 19; an operating side pulley 22 for converting into the wound quantity of the wire 30 according to the operation of dials 21, 23; and a manual driving means 25 and an electric driving means 40 connected to the operating side pulley 22 used in common for both driving means while one of a manually operated rotating shaft 22d and a servo motor 43 is selected, to transmit the operating motion of the dials 21, 23 to the operating side pulley 22.
