PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens grinding method and a lens grinding device capable of grinding a spectacle lens at a rotating speed considering the actual mechanical limit speed by checking whether the rotating speed of lens rotating shafts of the spectacle lens, the control speed of the axial relative position of the lens rotating shafts and a wheel spindle, or the center distance control speed of a lens axis and the wheel spindle exceeds a mechanical speed limit, and correcting at least one of the speeds in the case of exceeding the mechanical speed limit. SOLUTION: The lens grinding method and lens grinding device has a process of obtaining at least one of the rotating speed of the lens rotating shafts 23, 24 for rotating the spectacle lens ML, the control speed of the axial relative position of the lens rotating shafts and the wheel spindle, and the center distance control speed of a lens axis O2 and a rotation axis (wheel spindle) O1 ; a process of checking whether the obtained speed exceeds the mechanical limit speed; and a process of correcting at least one of the speeds in the case of exceeding the mechanical limit speed.
