PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily prepare even embroidery data for embroidering a pattern with many colors in a short time. SOLUTION: In preparing sewing data for embroidering the pattern from image data indicating the pattern, the image data of the pattern of a flower including one or more closed areas are scanner-inputted and the image data of the contours of the closed areas included in the pattern displayed on the screen are registered as parts for sewing data preparation and also displayed as an area specifying image. The closed area included in the pattern is specified on the screen, the image data of the inside are individually registered as new parts, and the registered image data of the respective parts are converted to the sewing data of different thread colors to prepare the embroidery data. Also, the display area of the parts (petal) prepared from the closed area is moved last so that the closed area can be area-specified further from the parts.
