PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water treatment apparatus that can be operated by properly switching to an appropriate treating method without installing a separate treatment tank. SOLUTION: This water treatment apparatus is provided with a treatment tank 2, of which the top surface is opened and in which a filter layer 1 assembled by a lot of filter materials is formed, an aeration device 3 ejecting air from beneath the filter layer 1 for carrying out biological treatment in the filter layer 1, a flocculant adding device 4 for adding a flocculant, such as PAC, to a raw water for carrying out microfiltration treatment in the filter layer 1, an extractant adding device 5 for adding an extractant to the raw water for carrying out solvent extraction/separation treatment in the filter layer 1, and a cover body 7 for the solvent extraction/separation treatment with a waste liquid collection part 6 for collecting the waste liquid of the extractant rising to the surface of the treatment tank 2. Operation of this apparatus can be switched to one of the biological treatment, the microfiltration treatment, and the solvent extraction/separation treatment by attaching or detaching the cover body 7 for the solvent extraction/separation and activating or stopping the aeration device 3, the flocculant adding device 4, and the extractant adding device 5.
