PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make interruptible and startable the discharge of various powder and fluid such as adhesive, clean solder, fluorescent body, grease, hotmelt, drug and food at a high speed without compressing or destroying the powder in a production process in fields of electronic parts, household electric appliance or the like. SOLUTION: In the powder and fluid applying apparatus, in which the discharge quantity of powder and fluid is controlled by giving relative linear movement and rotary movement to a shaft and a cylinder each other to give a transportation means to the fluid by the rotary movement and to change the relative gap between the fixed side and the rotary side by the linear movement, a sensor is arranged so as to enable to more precisely detect the gap between the fixed side and the rotary side.
