PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monorail type staircase elevating device installed by simple construction method, especially installed outdoors as an outdoor staircase of a house in a snowy district or the like to be suitably used, operated simply, inexpensive and having high safety. SOLUTION: This monorail type staircase elevating device is provided with rail members 5 having a rack 17 installed corresponding to the angle of inclination of a staircase 2, a device body 6 having a truck part 7 and a riding part 8 assembled to be combined in the state of sitting astride with the rail members 5 and elevated, an upper gate 9, and a lower gate 10. The truck part is provided with a motor 26, a driving gear 27 meshing with the rack, and guide rollers 28, 29, 30 rotating on the rail members, and combined with the rail members with an inclination corresponding to the angle of inclination to the rail members in the suspending state. The riding part has a guide roller 37 for rotating the rail member, a step member 33, a chair part 40, and a switch box 38, and combined with the truck part with the angle adjusted to be held in the horizontal state.
