METHOD TO RECONSTRUCT IMAGE FROM X-RAY CONE BEAM PROJECTION DATA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a unit to reduce influence by cut-off of X-ray cone beam projection on image quality. SOLUTION: An image is reconstructed from cone beam projection data from the inspection area of an inspection object. Cone beam projection data are captured by an X-ray device including an X-ray source guided along a trajectory around the inspection area and an X-ray image intensifier. First projection data are captured from the inspection area in a first motion mode of low resolution of the intensifier and second projection data from the sub-area of the inspection area in second motion mode of high resolution of the intensifier. First and second data are combined to form third projection data. The sub-area of the third projection data are represented by the second projection data and the rest of the inspection area by the first projection data. The image is reconstructed by the third projection data. This method is used for an X-ray unit, especially for a C-arm X-ray unit.
