PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a loop supporting device of a zigzag sewing machine preventing stitch skipping at performing zigzag sewing or the like in the zigzag sewing machine. SOLUTION: The loop supporting device 10 of the zigzag sewing machine is provided with a freely rotatable rotating hook 18 driven by a lower shaft 16, a rotating hook bobbin case holder 20 housed in the rotating hook 18 and held so as not to be rotated, a bobbin 23 housed in the rotating hook bobbin case holder 20, around which a bobbin thread 22 is wound, and a sword tip 25 projected in a peripheral direction on the outer peripheral surface 18A of the rotating hook 18 and catching the loop 13A of a needle thread 13. Further, the loop supporting device 10 is provided with a loop falling preventing member 43. Thus, when the lowered position of a needle 14 is on the left side in a feed direction of a sewing material, the loop 13A is abutted to the right side face 43A of the loop falling preventing member 43 and the shape of the loop 13A is kept so as to make the insertion direction of the loop 13A be along the projected direction of the sword tip 25.
