PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker for domestic or commercial use which will hardly make a user feel heat when he/she touches a joint for an outer lid and a main part of the rice cooker during cooking rice because the heat hardly leaks out of a pan heated during cooking rice or during warming cooked rice, hardly causes to change the color of the cooked rice into yellow and to dry the cooked rice because of the appropriate amount of heat given to the cooked rice during warming it, and has an improved thermal efficiency without softening the cooked rice because of less amount of attaching vapor produced during cooking rice or warming the cooked rice. SOLUTION: A pan 11, accommodated in the main part 12 of the rice cooker in a manner that the pan can be attached and removed, is heated by a heating coil 19. A lid 18 for pan equipped with a packing 21 for pan covering the upper opening of the pan 11 is placed below the outer lid 16 covering the upper opening of the main part 12 of the rice cooker. A sealing material 23 for periphery which intercepts the inside of the main part 12 of the rice cooker from the outside air is provided at a place located outside of the lid 18 for pan and inside of the joint 25 for the outer lid 16 and the main part 12 of the rice cooker.
