PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition containing a carboxylic acid- modified PVA and a specific compound, having low tacky adhesivity in wet conditions when used as a sizing agent for paper or a film material and excellent in storage stability as an aqueous solution. CONSTITUTION:This objective composition is obtained by compounding (A) a carboxylic acid-modified PVA with (B) a compound of formula [R is residue formed by removing a hydrogen atom from each of the hydroxy or amino groups of polyhydroxylic alcohol or polyamine having higher valences of >=3; EO is oxyethylene ; PO is oxypropylene; X and Y are integers satisfying X/(X+Y)=0.1-0.5; (n) is integer of >=3], which has a number average molecular weight of >=1000, in an amount of 0.5-20 pts.wt. on the basis of 100 pts.wt. of the composition A. |
