PASSWORD GENERATION AND STORING METHOD, AND AUTHENTICATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a password generation and storing method by which unau thorized decoding and use of user's password by a third party can surely be prevented. SOLUTION: The file contents such as an image and a document saved in a computer 10 or the like at user's side and the information attached to the file including a name and size of this file are sent from the computer 10 at user's side to a server computer 14 instead of a user's password via a communication network 12. The server computer 14 generates a password based on the file contents and the attached information to this file sent from the computer 10 at the user's side. The password generated by the server computer 14 is encrypted according to a prescribed process and saved in a password store file. The server computer 14 deletes the file content and the information attached to the file sent from the computer 10 at user' side.
