PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile composite machine with enhanced convenience that controls recording depending on a recording purpose when detecting the toner end. SOLUTION: Whether toner end is detected is discriminated in image forming (step S1). When no toner end is detected, image forming is performed (step S2). When the toner end is detected, it is discriminated whether image information to form an image is of such a kind whose electronic data are to be erased such as facsimile image information and transmission result report or image information for a copy, a printer and a user start report (step S3). When the image information received at the detection of toner expiration is a facsimile image or a transmission result report, an image memory 5 stores the image information and the replacement of toner is awaited (steps S4, S5). In other cases, the recording of image information is performed.
