PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat panel display device in which a circuit configuration is inexpensively realized by suppressing the frequency of image data reading without using a special display data setting means in the case of using part of a display panel for an image display. SOLUTION: When carrying out a display in resolution lower than full resolution which can be displayed on a TFT liquid crystal display panel, the input of display data corresponding to a portion of 1 display line of a low resolution display screen is initiated to a first stage source driver SD1 corresponding to a display area B on the TFT liquid crystal display panel and a final stage source driver SD8 in parallel. Following the completion of the input of the display area B, the display data of a display area A are written in from SD2 to SD7 in one direction from a preceding stage to a poststage.
