PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor portion 30 (electric motor) capable of preventing a carbon-made contacting member 60 of a commutator 50 from colliding with a brush holder 80 and thereby damaging the contact member 60. SOLUTION: A protrusion 82 is provided, at a brush holder 80, protruding in opposite to an end surface 33a of a resin 33 of an armature 32, and the axial position of an end surface 82a of this protrusion 82 in opposite to the end surface 33a of the resin 33 of the armature 32 is so arranged that, when the armature 32 shifts, by an outside force, in the axial direction of the brush holder 80 causing the end surface 33a to be placed in contact with the end surface 82a, there will be a clearance C formed between the contacting member 60 and the brush holder 80 in opposite thereto. This restrains the contracting member 60 of the commutator 50 from colliding with the brush holder 80, even if an impact load is applied to a fuel pump 10 causing the armature 32 to shift in the axial direction of the brush holder 80, thereby securely preventing damage to the carbon-made contact member 60 of the commutator 50.
