PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow enhancement in the head property of a magnetic head to be provided. SOLUTION: This head is a composite head 20 located so that a MR element 29 is located through a pair of shielding gap films between a pair of magnetic shield thin films 26, 39, and in a medium sliding surface 20a sliding on a magnetic tape a MR element 29 become oblique according to azimuth angleθrelative to the direction generally orthogonal to the medium sliding direction. In this head, further, the polish processing to the medium sliding surface 20a allows the predetermined curvatures to be fitted in the medium sliding direction illustrated by an arrow C in a drawing and in the direction generally orthogonal to the medium sliding direction illustrated by an arrow D in the drawing, respectively, and allows polish scratches 49 to be almost parallel to the recording track width direction of the MR element 29 illustrated by an arrow E in the drawing. |
