PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of a camera where excessive operation is not required to a user and voice trigger imaging is enabled surely by reflecting intention of the user, irrespective of the set conditions of the camera, and to provide the camera. SOLUTION: This digital camera has a party mode where image pickup is performed according to the state of a voice signal inputted from a microphone 19. In the party mode, four kinds of release determining conditions are prepared, so as to be likely reflected by using environment and intention of the user. In the case that the user selects a desired party mode out of modes 1-4 and depresses a release button 24, transition to voice stand-by condition is performed. At this time, the condition is informed by lighting a self-timer lamp 20, and an automatic power-off function and a previewing function are set forcedly and temporarily to be an OFF-state, in order not to operate both of the functions. Setting of both of the functions is returned to original condition, while synchronizing with the release of the party mode. |
