DISK DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device to realize a thin type and a mail size. SOLUTION: A chassis exterior is composed of a base body and a cover body; a disk inserting opening directly inserting a disk into the front face of the chassis exterior is formed; a connector is placed on the rear face of the chassis exterior; a traverse and a printed circuit board are placed on the base body; then the disk device holds a spindle motor, a pickup, and a driving means moving the pickup. The traverse is placed at the side of the disk inserting opening and the printed circuit board is placed at the side of the connector; the spindle motor is located at the center part of the base body; the reciprocating range of the pickup is located at the nearer side of the disk inserting opening than the spindle motor; the traverse is placed so that the reciprocating movement direction of the pickup is different from the inserting direction of the disk and then activates the traverse; the spindle motor is brought nearer to the side of the base body or the side of the cover body.
