PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the optimum light power in a short time by using a test light without applying a load to the laser diode. SOLUTION: Gradually decreasing the light power of the laser diode 24 emitting a light beam, it writes a predetermined test pattern in a medium 72, reads it to compare with the original test pattern, and calculates the number of data which do not match. If the number of the unmatching data exceeds a predetermined threshold, it regards the light power as the limit light power. The light power adjustment section 300 determines the optimum light power after adding a predetermined offset to this limit light power. |
