PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital satellite broadcasting receiver which has a plasma display connected thereto and reduces power consumption, when broadcasting is not displayed. SOLUTION: A digital satellite broadcasting receiver 100 is provided with a U/V power supply circuit for driving a U/V signal reception processing circuit 16, a DBS power supply circuit 152 for driving a DBS signal reception processing circuit 17, and a SUB power supply circuit 153 for driving a PDP signal processing circuit 181, and sends a video signal to a plasma display 1. The receiver 100 is constituted, so as to turn the circuit 151 or the circuit 152 on/off corresponding to reception state, is provided with a U/V power supply protecting circuit 151p, a DBS power supply protecting circuit 152p and a SUB power supply protecting circuit 153p, and makes the functions of the circuit 152p or the circuit 151p corresponding to turning-off of the power supply circuits stop.
