PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone which controls the handling for a received mail according to user state and an attribute of the opposite party to enable an optimum handling for the received mail. SOLUTION: There are provided memories 3 and 4, and the handling for the received mail is controlled according to the user state and the attribute of the opposite party at the reception of a mail.
