PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an arc-extinguishing chamber, covering space between a movable contactor and a permanent magnet with an insulating material and securing an insulation distance from a cross bar to the permanent magnet when blocking the dc current. SOLUTION: In this switching device provided with the movable contactor pressed by a spring disposed within the cross bar and held by the cross bar, a fixed contactor opposed to the movable contactor, an arc cover forming a contour and the permanent magnet disposed inside the arc cover, the cross bar side on a surface opposite to a rear surface of the movable contactor of the permanent magnet is covered with arc shield made of an insulating material.
