PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable stable retention releasing operation for a retaining means retaining a recording medium on a turn table independently of the installing attitude of the information recording face of the recording medium. SOLUTION: The mechanism comprises a turn table 12 mounting on the recording medium 8 and being rotated by a rotation-driving means 32, the retaining means 36 retaining the recording medium 8 on the turn table 12, and a driving means driving the recording medium 8 in a retaining direction and the retaining means 36 in the direction releasing the retention. The driving means comprises a regulating means 46 regulating the retaining means moving the recording medium in the retaining direction when driving the retaining means 36 in the direction releasing the retention of the recording medium 8.
