PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color cathode-ray tube which does not cause cost increase and can suppress deterioration of color purity. SOLUTION: A skirt part 18 of a shadow mask 12 comprises a plurality of first notches 25, having each first tongue piece part formed almost in the middle of each long edge side 18a and each short edge side 18b of the skirt part 18, and second notches 26 formed in pairs at each corner of the skirt part, so as to hold each corner, having each second tongue piece part 30. In each corner of the skirt part, where the length between the rim of the mask surface and a welding point 32 of each second tongue piece part is Lwd, and the length between the rim of the mask surface and the tip of one the second notches is Lcd, Lcd has the relation Lcd<=Lwd<=2Lcd for Lwd.
