PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image signal recording device wherein enlargement of the scale and increase in the cost are prevented. SOLUTION: This image signal recording device 1 is provided with error correction code imposing means 50A, 50B which impose error correction codes to image signals in the cause of reading and writing operation, wherein the image signals are once written in a storage device 51 and read. When the image signals to which the error correction codes are imposed by the error correction code imposing means 50A, 50B are recorded in series in a video tape 70, image signals which are picked up by image pickup time equivalent to or longer than time necessary for record starting to the video tape 70 are stored in a storage device 51. As a result, image signals which are obtained by intermittent image pickup of small intervals are recorded continuously, while cost reduction and miniaturization are maintained.
