PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical ring network protection system that can switch the connection path of an optical ring network, without causing of an unnecessary switching request. SOLUTION: An extra traffic path is set to a standby system of an optical ring network, a normal traffic path is set to an active system of the optical ring network, and a connection path of the optical ring network is not switched, when the interruption of input of an optical signal is not detected continuingly for a preset protection time or longer.
