PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device and a method for updating information in the device by which count data is updated speedily to a storage element such as a semiconductor memory. SOLUTION: The count data is constituted by two-byte gray codes. Then, this count data is divided into two pieces of divided data consisting of a high- order byte and a low-order byte, and two storage areas of 1-byte (8 bits) constitution are provided in a serial EEPROM (storage element). In the case of writing the count data in RAM 13 to the EEPROM of a unit at need, only varied divided data varied with the variance of the count data is serially transferred to the side of the EEPROM and the count data in the EEPROM is rewritten. Thus, the count data can speedily be stored in the storage medium such as the EEPROM compared with a conventional device serially transferring all the count value. |
