发明名称 Improvements relating to the oligomerisation of olefines and catalysts therefor
摘要 Olefines are oligomerized in the presence of a cobalt or activated carbon catalyst, which additionally contains an alkali metal, and has not been subjected to heat in the presence of reducing gases or added molecular oxygen. Suitable olefines are those containing up to 10C especially C3-C8. Oligomerization temperatures usually lie in the -100 to +200 DEG C. range. The reaction is usually effected at such a pressure that the feed is liquefied but if desired a solvent e.g. pentane, hexane or cyclohexane can be used. In examples (1) propylene was oligomerized at 80 DEG C. in the presence of Co + K on C to yield 4 methyl pentene-1, cis 4 methyl pentene-2, trans 4-methyl pentene-2, 2-methyl pentene-1, hexene-1, cis hexene-3, trans-hexene-3, cis hexene-2, trans-hexene-2, and 2-methyl pentene-2; (2) butene-1 yielded 73% octenes at a slightly greater temperature; (3) a mixture of butene-1, cis-butene-2 and trans butene-2 gave 11% of octenes and (4) pentenes yielded C10 dimers.ALSO:Oligomerisation catalysts are made by depositing a cobalt compound and nitric acid or a nitrate on activated carbon heating the carbon in the absence of reducing gases or added molecular oxygen at temperatures below 400 DEG C. to decompose the nitrate, then heating further in an inert gas while maintaining the temperature of the catalyst below 500 DEG C, and then impregnating the carbon with alkali metal. Specified alkali metals are Li, Na and K. If desired the alkali metal may be incorporated in the feedstock to be treated.
