PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image display device which reduces a color breakup disturbance which is characteristic of an FSCD system, in a division display type TFT liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: This color image display device 10 displays the primary colors one after another by fields, divides its screen longitudinally into screen areas No.1 to No.N, makes writing scans for display data successively from the upper- end screen area No.1 to the lower-end screen area No.N, completes a display of primary color data in the upper-end screen area No.1 before the writing scan of certain primary color data ends in the lower-end screen area No.N, and starts writing next primary color data immediately after the writing scan of the primary color data ends.
