PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing method of a cathode-ray tube, which is capable of realizing a sure dustproof effect by preventing the infiltration of dusty materials as dust and foreign particles into an envelope during its conveying it with cooling between the time, when a facepanel and a funnel are sealed by melting and the time an electron gun is sealed, using a simple structure. SOLUTION: In this sealing method of a cathode-ray tube, both sealing faces of a facepanel 14 and a funnel 17 are abutted against each other and then carried into a sealing furnace in order to seal the facepanel 14 and the funnel 17, after the opening 22 in the neck portion of the envelope 29 is demountably capped with a heat-resistant porous-fiber-like filter 30.
