PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device by which defective pixels which are later generated by change with time or defective pixels which are transitionally generated, in a specific operation mode can be detected and corrected with high accuracy. SOLUTION: The imaging device is composed of a CCD imaging element 3, a light-shielding plate 2 for shielding the light incident to the imaging element 3, an exposure period control part 5 for setting the exposure time by controlling the light-shielding plate 2 and the imaging element 3, a dark time signal storing part 6 for storing dark time signals obtained from the imaging element 3 when the light is shielded by the light-shielding plate 2, a subtraction part 7 for subtracting the dark time signals from the main imaging signals of the imaging element 3, a defect-detecting part 8 for detecting the defects from the subtraction imaging signals outputted from the subtraction part 7 and a defect-correcting part 9 for performing correction of the detected defective pixels.
