PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for generating a quasi-orthogonal code of a mobile communication system and diffusing a band by using a quasi-orthogonal code are provided to increase the capacity of channels by using the quasi-orthogonal code. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for generating a quasi-orthogonal code of a mobile communication system and diffusing a band by using a quasi-orthogonal code includes a quasi-orthogonal code generator, the first diffuser, an orthogonal code generator, the second diffuser, and a PN diffuser. The quasi-orthogonal code generator is used for generating a quasi-orthogonal code by mixing an orthogonal code corresponding to an assigned orthogonal code index with a mask corresponding to a quasi-orthogonal code mask index. The first diffuser is used for changing the first input signal to the quasi-orthogonal code and diffusing them. The orthogonal code generator is used for generating an orthogonal code corresponding to the number of the assigned orthogonal code. The second diffuser is used for changing the second input signal to the quasi-orthogonal code and diffusing them. The PN diffuser is used for changing the orthogonal diffusion signals to PN sequences and diffusing them.
