PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel(a PDP) that has a high picture quality and is manufactured at a low cost, by realizing a low voltage driving of data electrodes in a writing interval. SOLUTION: The plasma display panel is provided with a plurality of opposing first and second display electrodes located between a pair of parallel substrates and data electrodes that are arranged orthogonal to the first display electrodes. The panel has at least an initializing period, a writing period, a maintaining period and an erasing period. The time constant of a falling applied voltage in the initializing period is made longer than the time constant of priming attenuation.
