A device for packaging and/or applying a cosmetic product contains fibers comprising at least one body which is magnetized or capable of being magnetized. The fibers present an effectively constant transverse section and contain magnetized or magnetizable particles of soft or hard magnetic materials, ferrites, especially zinc, nickel or magnesium based, rare earths, barium sulfate, silicon-iron alloys, optionally filled with molybdenum. The particles are applied by coating or by application to the surface. The fibers are prepared by extrusion or coextrusion of plastic material(s): polyamides, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), acetates, polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), amide bloc polyester, plastified Rilsan (RTM), polyester, PE, silicone or nitrile elastomers. The particles only present at the surface of the fiber, only in the interior of the fiber or dispersed within it. The fibers have one of the following transverse sections: circle, full or hollow square or triangle or star, disk with optional grooving, U, V, I, T, Z, -, +, kidney, three-branched and may optionally be twisted. The diameter is 0.5-500 mu m and the length 0.5-50mm. The packaging device may contain a wringing organ which may have magnetic properties. A preferred device is a mascara applicator comprising a recipient containing particles suitable to be attracted by the applicator fibers which are magnetizable. The recipient may contain a composition including magnetized particles which can act on the magnetizable fibers. The applicator is in the form of a brush of which one or more of the bristles united with a twisted magnetized core are of the magnetizable fiber. The device may comprise a flocking coating of which at least one of the hairs is of the magnetizable fiber. The coating covers, at least partially, the teeth of a comb, the hairs of a brush, a wringer, a foam, a sponge, a film, perforated or not, a ferrule or woven or non-woven tissue. |
