LINEAR IGNITION FUZE WITH SHAPED SHEATH

A linear ignition fuze has a sheath (14), the inner surface (22) of which has an irregular cross section such that the sheath (14) is capable of forming a gas channel (18) against a single strand core (12) having a substantially circular (e.g. circular or elliptical) cross section. According to one embodiment of the invention, the wall of the sheath (12) is of a non-uniform thickness having a cylindrical outer surface and a polygonal inner surface (22). The gap (18) formed between the apexes of the polygonal inner surface (22) and the substantially cylindrical core (12) form the gas channels (18), while the contact between the side walls of the polygonal inner surface (22) and the cylindrical core (12) confine the core (12) within the sheath (14).
