PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for removing a resonant frequency of a system are provided to accurately identify a high resonant frequency in time domain and remove the resonant frequency using a programmable filter. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for removing a resonant frequency of a system includes a frequency generator(404), a resonance detector(405), and a programmable filter(406). The frequency generator generates a signal for exciting the system to apply the signal to the system. The resonance detector detects a resonant frequency from a signal obtained when the system responds to the excitation signal. The programmable filter removes the resonant frequency detected by the resonance detector. The excitation signal generated by the frequency generator has frequency components up to a servo sampling frequency band of the system.
