The pump has a cylinder chamber (2), sealed during a pressure stroke of the pump piston (4), on the suction side by a first closure valve (5) relative to a reservoir for the lubricant, and on the pressure side by a second closure valve (8), relative to a consumer. The pump piston is moved to and fro by a drive. A reservoir chamber (6) is connected to the cylinder chamber via an open overflow (7), and contains a pressure piston (9), loaded by a spring (10) and moving to and fro. The pressure piston forms a control valve for the overflow, and feeds lubricant from the reservoir to the consumer during a suction stroke of the pump piston.
